Blogs: What Can They Do for Tourism?

June 2nd, 2008 Posted in Blogs

When it comes to tourism and the internet, marketing is essential. Part of what makes the magic happen, of course, is the ability to connect with those individuals that you are marketing products, services and – to some extent – places to. Blogs are a great tool for adding content and making a connection with your target audience.

For tourism businesses, blogs can:

  • Let you create fresh content for your tourism website on a daily basis and to be sure that your site is regularly indexed by the search engines.
  • Let you tell people more about the area in general and to provide details about a given place in particular.
  • Allow you to encourage discussion on different points so that you can get readers involved.
  • Help you to show would be visitors what they are missing by not spending time in your area.

In other words, when you keep a daily blog as a part of your tourism internet marketing efforts, you’ll find that you are better able to get people interested and wanting to discover more. The more that your readers want to be involved with your site and the more that they learn about your area, the more likely you are to be able to improve your business results.

Because of the versatility of blogs, I’ve spoken about them in an indepth webinar. This webinar, Online Marketing with Blogs & Wikis can also be picked up on CD, so you can listen at your own pace!
