Great Content Is The Meat Of Your Web Business
May 15th, 2008 Posted in Great ContentThere is no substitute for great content. It is the single most important thing for your website. You’ll hear a lot of talk about meta tags, website design and development, search engine optimization, graphic design, website navigation, functionality, etc. All of that is very well, but if you don’t have great content for your site visitors when they get there then none of it matters. Your web site visitors will be looking for great content.
That’s not to say that they are consciously thinking, “Great content, great content, I’ve got to find great content!” What they are looking for is information – specific information about a topic. If they found your web site then it’s likely because they went searching for travel and tourism type information and there you were. Now, what kind of experience will they have when they get there?
Great content – whether it be tourism and travel information or something else – keeps visitors on your web site longer. They won’t want to go anywhere else because they are really having fun being right where they are. And if they are staying on your site to see what else you have to offer then you are giving them great content – otherwise, they’d be off to find it somewhere else. So, the most important question you can ask yourself before you start building your website is this: “What type of content will my site visitors want, and what will keep them on my site longer?”
For the answer to that question and many more, take a look at the second edition of my book, 101 Ways to Promote Your Tourism Business Web Site!
