Subscribe To E-zines Before Advertising In Them

April 11th, 2008 Posted in Increasing Traffic through Online Publications

There are different ways to draw traffic to your web site using e-zines. You can advertise in another person’s e-zine and reach their customers or you can sponsor the organization, which is a really good thing to do if it’s a non-profit agency. You can also submit articles to be published in the e-zine and this works a lot like article marketing where you get a byline and a link back to your web site as a “thank you” or payment for your contribution. Another way you can capitalize on e-zines is to start your own.

But talking about contributing to other e-zines, before you do that you should subscribe to the e-zine to see if it is a place you would like your name to appear. You do not want to buy advertising only to find out later that the readership really isn’t the targeted readership that you desire. For instance, a tourism e-zine might focus on Caribbean tours and your business is more targeted toward U.S. mountain range tours. There is no compatibility of interests there. So you need to make sure that your target market coincides with the target market of the e-zine in which you seek a mention.
