How Many Landing Pages Is Enough?

April 15th, 2008 Posted in Landing Pages

You can never have too many landing pages. Remember, a landing page is a web page that you use to send targeted traffic to from an advertising or marketing campaign. Every time you start a new campaign you’ll have to build a new landing page or use an existing one. But you have to make a decision as you whether you will build a new one or use an existing one and which route you go will depend on several factors.

One factor that you’ll consider is whether your new advertising campaign compliments what you are already doing. And is it related?

For instance, let’s say you have an e-book guide to a particular travel destination that you are selling. You’ve been driving targeted traffic to your landing page through pay-per-click ads but now you want to try sending targeted traffic to that landing page by developing strategic partnerships on other web sites. Well, if you are marketing the same e-book then there is no need to build a new landing page – just use the one you have.

But suppose that you have written another e-book guide focusing on a different geographic region. What then? Well, now you need a new landing page because it’s a different product (you shouldn’t try to sell more than one product per landing page). You may use pay-to-play strategies, article marketing, blogging, or any number of other marketing methods, but no matter what methods you use you’ll need to send your traffic somewhere. That somewhere is a landing page devoted entirely to the product that you are promoting through that marketing campaign.
