Permission-Based Marketing And Privacy

March 7th, 2008 Posted in Permission Marketing

A major concern for many people online today is privacy. Permission marketing allows business owners and webmasters a way to collect personal information on potential customers for the benefit of marketing their businesses. But your customers will want you to guard their privacy with your life. And you can do that with relative ease.

It is important to ensure your site visitors that their privacy is important to you. If you fail to convince them that you consider their privacy of value then you may not get their permission to contact them later. That’s very important. If you expect to do business with them later then you’ve got to convince them right now to trust you. You have just a few seconds to get their attention and a few more to build some trust.

Be sure that you include a privacy statement on your opt-in page to let site visitors know that you will not sell, rent, or give away their contact information. Tell them that you respect their privacy and you will guard that privacy with everything that you have. It’s the only way you’ll build enough trust to get their permission.
