You know you have to provide a good service, offer lots of resources, choose a great location, and give good recommendations on places to see in your area. But what about online? Do you know how to keep visitors to your web site returning again and again?

There are tools and techniques to ensuring that you get repeat visits to your tourism web site. In future posts I will cover these techniques in more detail, but for right now I’d like to just offer you this overview:

  • Design an attractive web site with valuable content
  • Set up a What’s New page
  • Include a Tip of the Day page or section
  • Share your awards
  • Add bookmarking icons to your web site
  • Draw more visitors with cartoons, contests, jokes, and trivia related to your tourism niche
  • Publish a calendar of events and reminders
  • Install a blog
  • Produce podcasts
  • RSS feeds
  • Establish online chat sessions, workshops, forums, and discussion groups
  • Sponsor special guests and celebrity appearances
