Create A Signature File You Can Use In Several Mediums

March 15th, 2008 Posted in Utilizing Signature Files To Increase Web Site Traffic

It’s not hard to create a signature file. When you do, you should think about creating one that you can use in your e-mail correspondence as well in various other media. Forum posting, for instance, is another type of marketing that you should be doing for your tourism business and you can use the same signature file for your forums posts that you use for your e-mail campaigns. That signature file can also be used in other marketing campaigns and through other tools such as blogging or blob commenting, social networks, and a variety of other marketing methods.

Dont’ make your signature file too long. Too much information can work against you. The most essential information for your signature file are your name and a link to your website and/or blog. Put a lot of thought into your sig file because it will be with you a long time.

Other information you can use in your sig file include:

  • Title or Position
  • Phone Number
  • Company Name
  • Tagline
  • A Call To Action

Forums generally only allow two or three lines in a signature file. One way you can make the most of your sig file is to create a longer one for your e-mail – this is a signature file that you’ll use at the end of all of your e-mails. It can include the maximum information in order to present the full effect and give your e-mail recipients all the ways to contact you that they may find necessary. It could look like this:

    Name
    Your title
    Your company name
    Website address hyperlink
    Phone numberTagline
Call to action with a link

That’s a long signature file, but it’s perfectly acceptable in your e-mail. You might even get away with ending your blog posts and newsletters with that sig file. But you likely won’t get away with forum posts utilizing that sig file. Therefore, you should create a shorter one just for your forum posts. For instance, you might just include your name, website address, and your tagline. At any rate, give it some thought and create a signature file that you can use in all of your marketing media.
